E-mail, the Internet, and cellular phones make communication faster for people to get the information they need. Communication is crucial between consumers and medical providers. Electronic medical records are a mode of communication between consumers and providers. There is a certain level of trust that must be maintained if marketing is going to be done through information from patients’ health information (Bowman, 2010). Marketing must follow the standards set forth in HIPAA to prevent unauthorized use of personal information. Health care technology is rapidly changing to make health care safe, efficient, and informative for patients. Electronic medical records are an asset to the health care field. Patients benefit from electronic medical records because the records are easier to maintain and are safer. These records make communication easier to maintain between patients and providers.
